📢 Resolution No. 1: Proposed Changes to CCSNA Elections & Meetings

The Crowder College Student Nurses’ Association (CCSNA) Board of Directors is introducing Resolution No. 1, a proposed set of bylaw amendments to modernize and improve our election and meeting processes.

🗳️ This resolution will be presented for discussion and a vote at our House of Delegates meeting on Tuesday, September 2, 2025. All students are encouraged to review it in advance.

🧭 Why This Resolution?

The Board of Directors recognizes that the current election process has:

• Been unsustainable,

• Not fully aligned with our existing bylaws, and

• Needed updates to support smooth, fair, and repeatable leadership transitions.

Resolution No. 1 is designed to:

✅ Clarify the timeline and method of nominations and elections

✅ Ensure compliance with bylaws

✅ Establish a modern, consistent, and fair process

🗳️ Proposed Changes – Article VI: Elections

📌	Current Bylaw	🆕 Proposed Amendment
🗓️ Timing	Elections occur at the annual meeting in January	Elections occur once a year in the semester before Level 2 graduation, completed within the first 8 weeks
🗳️ Nominations	Taken from the floor during the meeting	Nominations open for at least 1 week via electronic or in-person forms
👩‍⚖️ Eligible voters	All members	Only nursing students with ≥ 2 semesters remaining (typically Level 1s) may nominate/vote
📥 Voting method	Secret paper ballot	Secret paper or secure electronic ballot, open 5–7 days with a defined close time
⚖️ Tie-breaking	Re-vote, then president decides	Elections Chair or presiding officer casts deciding vote

🏛️ Proposed Changes – Article VII: Meetings

📌	Current Bylaw	🆕 Proposed Amendment
Section I (a)	Annual meeting held last Monday in January	House of Delegates must meet ≥ 3 times per semester, virtually or in-person; meetings announced ≥ 7 days ahead
Section I (b)	Meetings held every 4 weeks after annual meeting	🔥 This subsection will be removed to eliminate redundant scheduling rules

📌 What Does This Mean for You?

If adopted, Resolution No. 1 will:

✅ Move elections earlier in the academic year

✅ Create a predictable, repeatable process for nominations and voting

✅ Ensure meetings are held regularly and transparently

✅ Retire outdated annual meeting requirements
